ASAL develops new sutures for thread lift procedures
NEW YORK (May 2006): ASNA has designed new suture suspension threads that intend to give better tissue support with thread lift procedures for nonsurgical face and body lifts.
The most common complication with suture threads are that threads snap or lack sufficient hold, or that end-knots create infections or bumps. Suture threads are used in procedures to lift and support sagging tissue of the face or body with the ever-growing thread life procedures.
ASNA has developed the design in consultation with cosmetic surgeon Dr Gustavo Leibaschoff. The new ASNA design for suture threads is expected to bring greater support to tissue with less chances of breaking and with added supported use for contouring and lifting of the tissue. The threads are mainly aimed for larger areas of the body but will be flexible for additional use on facial areas with deeper tissue hold such as cheeks and will not require any tying of knots at the end-points but enbedd into the tissue as the thread is cut.
Dr Gustavo Leibaschoff has more than 1000 suture suspension procedures behind him, and is a known orator on Suture Suspension procedures worldwide. The doctor is one of the first cosmetic surgeons who worked performing the Featherlift facelift procedure and is one of the three pioneers who teach the technique of Featherlift around the world.
Dr Leibaschoff is also one of the co-inventors of Lipoplasty. Gustavo has been serving as the President of the International Union of Societies of Lipoplasty (IUSL), Chairman of the International School in Lipoplasty with Dr. Pierre Fournier and Chairman of International University Academy in Aesthetic Medicine and Pathology (IUAAMP).
"The new design is very promising and may help us to reduce the most common complaints with suture suspension procedures, a problem which has not been solved as of yet by any manufacturer of different brands of threads", says Dr Leibaschoff.
ASNA is expecting to try the new design in later portions of 2006 after completing development and patent applications.
